Do I need therapy?

online psychologist hong kong Let’s take physical health as an example. Do you need to exercise, and if so, would you exercise on your own or with a PT? Even if you are healthy, in order to maintain physical health you need to include physical activity into your daily schedule. You can exercise and train on your own without much external help if you know your body, you are in good health, you have already worked with a PT in the past, you know what you need and can motivate yourself.

Therapy and self-development are needed for our psychological and emotional health. However, if you live in harmony with yourself and others and you are not afraid to move towards life that matters to you, you might not need therapy and  it will be enough for you to spend quality time with loved ones, get support from friends when needed, keep a diary, read good books, and continue to understand yourself.

In my experience, most of us struggle, at least, some of the time in our life. We encounter lots of different problems: 

  • being lost in our repetitive negative thoughts;
  • experiencing fear and dread about many situations
  • feeling stressed and overwhelmed
  • traumatic childhood
  • thinking of ourselves and others critically
  • not living our life fully present, living on “autopilot”
  • poor sleep, unable to  “turn off your brain” 

I can go on and on to continue this list. If at least some of the above is about you,  then psychotherapy could be very useful and beneficial to you.
